All leagues cope with these issues. If you want to play officiated sports, TCSSC has them. Officiated leagues are always more expensive: look no further than TSA or Canlan Icesports to prove that.
Further, anytime I have had issues with venues, TCSSC has always listened and gotten back to me ASAP. This is more than the customer service I can say of other leagues.
As far as the cost goes...shop around: you will get what you pay for. TCSSC has set the bar for rec sports leagues in Toronto...everyone else is playing catch up.
... forgot to mention, their 7 on 7 ball hockey venue at Main and Gerrard (Beaches Sports Centre) is fantastic! (arena ball hockey)
I've played ball hockey for years in this league, and more recently indoor soccer. Overall, I really enjoy the league and hence continue to play in it. Some of the gyms for ball hockey are too small, but a select few are amazing to play in. Locations seem to be getting further from 'central' as seasons go by. The Web site could use some work but it works fine. They are very accommodating in terms of registration changes and good at responding back to your emails. Their 'help line' for when you are locked out of a venue could use some work though (the one time I used it, the guy at the other end was basically just taking messages not solving problems). The indoor soccer venues are fantastic! You can save a lot of money by forming your own team instead of an individual sign up (use a service like sportaholik.com to finish up your roster, for example). Again, overall I'm fairly happy with the TCSSC and will continue to play in it.
The lack of referees really hurts this league. Also the cost of way to high for the amount of extras they provide (which is close to none)
Terrible league. Too expensive, no umpires, very short season, unsafe diamonds, very rec.
